Accra Hearts of Oak have suspended their defender Charles Vardis for what the club describes as 'gross indiscipline'.

The central defender is said to have gone a drinking-spree and also fought with captain Hassan Mohammed.

"I will just like to summarise it as gross indiscipline," Hearts administrative manager, Ashford Tetteh-Oku told Ghanasoccernet.com

"You don't travel on a flight with the executives of club officials and go on a drinking spree and when your captain even tries to advice you, you fight him.

"The club has been existed for years and this behavoiur cannot be countenanced. I think will serve as a deterrent to the other players."

The Phobians have been preparing for Sunday's crucial Caf Champions League second leg qualifier against Gabon's FC 105 Libreville with new coach Eyal Lachman in charge.

The team is currently in Winneba trimming the rough edges ahead of the tie.

Vardis has struggled to feature in the Hearts defence since joining them two seasons ago from Real Sportive.
