Henaku wins Accra Open golf

E. K. Henaku scored 147 gross to win the 51st Accra Open golf championships, which ended at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday 28 October 2001.

Francis Agbemor took the second position with 148 gross while E. K. Osei was third with 150 gross, beating Victor Torgah on count back. E. M. Kwame was fifth with 151 gross beating T. K. Agama on count back.

In the Handicap event, Kuzi Charamba emerged champion with 135 net while S. Akakpo was second with 141 net beating Alfred Neequaye on count back.

Mona Captan won the Ladies event with 156 gross. Florence Etwi-Barimah placed second with 167 gross, Helen Swanepoel placed third with 170 gross beating Suzie Abaloo on count back while Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong was fifth with 171 gross.

The Handicap trophy went to Margaret Anderson with 143 net, beating Clara Price on count back to the second position while Jane Mokwenyei captured the third place with 149 gross.

S. K. Klah won the professionals event with 284 gross, E. K. Korblah and Victor Brave-Mensah tied at the second position with 287 gross while the fourth position went to John Dorman.

Distillers Corporation of South Africa and Enterprise Insurance Company Limited jointly sponsored the three-day 36-Scratch event opened to professional and amateur golfers throughout the country.
