Arsenal's missed opportunity to secure the 2023/2024 Premier League title has prolonged the anticipation for another Ghanaian player to hoist the esteemed trophy, extending the wait to nine years by the end of the 2024/2025 season.

Since the Premier League's inception 32 years ago, only three Ghanaians have claimed the title, with hopes high that Thomas Partey and his Arsenal squad would triumph in the recently concluded season.

However, Partey and Arsenal were edged out by Manchester City, who etched their names in history by becoming the first English club to win four consecutive titles.

Manchester City's championship was sealed with a 3-1 victory over West Ham on the final day of the 2023/2024 season.

Arsenal, amassing 89 points, finished just two points shy of Pep Guardiola's team, marking their second successive runner-up finish in the Premier League.

GhanaWeb spotlights the three Ghanaian players who have won the Premier League:

Michael Essien

Michael Essien stands as the first and only Ghanaian player to have won two Premier League titles.

The midfield virtuoso was integral to the Chelsea squads that clinched the Premier League in the 2005/2006 and 2009/2010 seasons, making 168 appearances in the league.

Daniel Amartey

Daniel Amartey was part of Leicester City's fairy-tale victory in the 2015/2016 season.

Defying all odds, Leicester City, under Claudio Ranieri's leadership, secured the league title with 81 points.

Jeffery Schlupp

Jeffery Schlupp, another versatile Ghanaian footballer, was also part of the Leicester City team. Although not a primary fixture, he played various roles, including midfielder, left-back, and left wing-back, alongside teammates Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, and Ngolo Kante.
