Hundreds of Ghanaians on Tuesday evening thronged the Kotoko International Airport to welcome home newly-crowned WBO Super Bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe.

The supporters who were clad in the national colours and shirts with inscriptions of Isaac Dogboe sang, danced and chanted the name of the boxer who made history as the youngest Ghanaian boxer to have won a World title.

Addressing the ecstatic fans upon arrival, Dogboe commended Ghanaians for the continued support and expressed the hope that his victory will open doors for other boxers to get more world title bouts and bring home titles.

Dogboe dedicated the victory to God whom, he believes handed him victory over Jessie Magdaleno.

“Saturday was a great night of boxing and l like I keep saying, the battle belongs to the Lord. The voice of the people is the voice of God and God heard the prayers of the people and he delivered. I’m lost for words and all I can say is, let’s give glory to God. Let’s all celebrate. Ghana has a new world champion and that champion is the Lord himself. We believe that the drought is over and from here on if all the athletes work hard and go out there with fairness they will be able to bring something home”, Dogboe remarked.

Dogboe on Sunday became Ghana's youngest ever boxing champion after knocking out Mexican-American Jessie Magdaleno in Philadelphia. The victory makes him the new WBO super bantamweight/junior featherweight titleholder.

Dogboe recovered from a first-round knockdown to give Jessie Magdaleno an eleventh round Technical Knock Out (TKO) to become Ghana's 8th world title winner.

Dogboe now has an impressive record of 19 fight, 0 defeats and 11 knockouts (19-0, 11 KOs)
