Ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant touched base in Ghana Tuesday evening ahead of his official unveiling Thursday at the Ghana FA secretariat.

The new Black Stars coach is scheduled to meet the minister of sports Mahama Ayariga today to brief him about his plans for the national team over the next two years.

An upbeat 59-year-old Grant said the prospects are great as he looks forward to his first major assignment at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea from January 18 to February 7.

“I’m happy to be in Ghana,” the ex-West Ham boss told TV3. “I’m looking forward to work with the players.”

Grant, whose deal with the four-time African champions took effect from December 1, 2014, said he has been spending the last few weeks monitoring Ghanaian players abroad and will not have issues with selection.

For him, one of the legacies he wants to leave in the west African country is to “inspire” a generation of Black Stars players.

The former Partizan Belgrade manager will also meet with the executive committee members of the GFA and the Black Stars technical team.
