The firebrand member of the opposition National Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong stormed a town hall meeting organized by the Toronto Chapter of the NPP on August 16, 2015 to lay bare the problems in NPP and how they are resolving them in order to be able to wrestle POWER from the incompetent ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the leadership of President John Mahama in 2016.

Not mincing words, Kennedy Agyapong, who is the MP for Assin Central exposed those who have sought to divide the rank and file of NPP and lamented the threats on his life by some NPP gurus such Kwabena Agyepong (General Secretary of NPP). He then remarked, “Look at this boy that I gave him money, I campaigned for him. Because of his political ambitions, he would eliminate me and you tell me don’t talk!” Hon. Agyapong questioned, “What? Who said don’t talk?” He was of the opinion that if the party he loves, the NPP, want his money then he would talk against the ills in the party. He revealed further that all those people in the party (NPP) who do not support their elected leader, Nana Addo, anytime they contributed money was to sabotage his leadership.

Hon Agyapong expressed openly his love for NPP and the nation Ghana. He had just come to Toronto from China where he had ordered 30 pick-ups for use by the NPP in their 2016 national elections campaign. He was of opinion that the NPP lost the 2008 and 2012 elections in Ghana due to their own in-house fighting (Nana and Alan factions) and that the death of Adams (the North Region NPP Chairman) fortunately has exposed the rancor in the party he has been talking all the time. That, the 5% membership of the party who do not support Nana have now been brought to their knees and it is incumbent upon the 95% to welcome those few individuals into the full loyalty of the party so that together they win the 2016 elections to rescues Ghanaians from the economic misery the NDC has plunged the country into.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, then turned the heat on the ruling NDC government and described government officials as thieves. He also hit hard at Ghanaian journalists who in bed with the government taking ‘SOLI’ from ministers and turning blind eye to the mistakes of the NDC government.

Addressing the same meeting earlier, the MP for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover described Nana Akuffo Addo as a visionary who is also not corrupt! He encouraged all Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP to make Nana Addo the next President of Ghana in 2016. He, however, made a worrying comment about the NPP as national party. He observed that all the officers of the Toronto Chapter are Twi-speaking people and employed the party to reach out to other non Twi-speaking Ghanaians in the community.

During questioning time, some of the participants advised Hon Kennedy Agyapong to be seasoned in his comments by reducing personal attacks (insults) on individuals and articulate issues of concern! Hon Agyapong thanked them for advice and accepted to cut out insults from his comments. He however insisted that he could not ‘bend the truth’, the truth sometimes hurts!! Asked what NPP would do differently to better the life of the ordinary Ghanaian, the MP referred to President Kufour’s era and what his government did then for Ghanaians such as the Health Insurance Scheme and loans for small scale industries which the present NDC government has collapsed as a result of mismanagement and excessive borrowing.
