Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Member of Parliament for Suame in the Ashanti Region, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has advised the Ghana Football Association to allow Kwesi Appiah the free will to run the show as the head coach of the Black Stars.

According to Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who is also the majority leader in parliament, the nation’s football governing body members who are mostly affiliated with clubs, should desist from forcing players on the new head coach of the Black Stars.

In an interview with Hon. Osei Kyei further indicated that he championed the calls for a local coach because it was going to be a financially prudent decision.

“I entreat members of the Football Association to desist from imposing players on Kwesi Appiah. He should be allowed to choose the players he deems fit for his team because he will be held ultimately responsible for the results that the team churns out.” He told Happy FM.

“I was a strong advocate for a local coach to handle our Black Stars because I know it will be financially prudent for us. I also believe our local coaches are competent enough to handle the job. We were spending about $70,000 a month on Avram Grant and hiring Kwesi Appiah will reduce that that expenditure.” He added.

Kwesi Appiah officially starts his two-year journey on May 1.
