Former Black Stars captain Abedi Pele remains the only Ghanaian to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a teenager.
He was a member of Ghana's last AFCON-winning squad, which defeated host nation Libya to win the trophy for the fourth time in 1982.
Reflecting on achieving the enviable feat of becoming a continental champion at age 17, Abedi said it was an "incredible" moment that he will "never forget."
"I was lucky that we played against Libya and we won the cup. Carrying the cup at that age was really incredible. It's something you can never forget," he said in a video shared by Sports GH TV on YouTube.
Abedi Pele's contribution to winning the title was minimal as he did not have to play a significant part, but he holds the record as Ghana's youngest player to play at the AFCON.
Winning the AFCON was the start of Abedi's greatness as he went on to become one of Africa's greatest footballers ever and a global football star.
Although he could not win the trophy again during his peak years, he led Ghana to the finals 10 years after winning it but lost on penalties to Ivory Coast.
In his 17-year international career, he made 73 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring 19 goals. He made his debut at age 16 in 1981.
