Ashantigold defender Eric Donkor has stated categorically that he is not in bed with suggestions of pay-cut being proposed by football administrators.

The former Asante Kotoko left back opines that it is insensitive for club administrators in the local league to brood over the subject of pay-cut in light of the novel Coronavirus.

Football clubs across the globe have resorted to measures – which entails slashing of player salaries to ease their financial burden in the wake of the pandemic.

The writing on the wall indicate that clubs on the domestic scene want to follow a similar path but Donkor disagrees with that school of thought considering the merger salaries of players.

“I’m not in bed with those calling for pay cut because salaries of local players are meager,” he told Bryt FM.

“Personally, I’m not into it, how much are Ghanaian players paid and how much do you want to pay cut them?” he asked.

“To me, pay cut doesn’t sound so well in Ghana. If a player takes GHC300 or 400 and you want to deduct a certain amount from it, how can that player survive?”

“I know things are tough now for the clubs but they should also put the players first since they are the main actors of the game.
