Hungary partners GFA to develop youth football

Hungary has expressed its readiness to partner Ghana in the area of youth football, infrastructural development and to share experience on developing football academies.

Foreign Minister of Hungary Mr. Péter Szijjártó revealed this after his visit to the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday.

Welcoming Mr Szijjártó and his delegation, GFA Vice President, Fred Crentsil outlined women’s football, infrastructural and grass root development as areas key to the GFA in the next phase of its developmental agenda.

He sought support from Hungary in terms of the GFA’s developmental agenda especially in the area of youth football and developing the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

He recalled the cordial relations between Ghana and Hungary in the area of football which saw Hungarian coach József Ember appointed as Head Coach of the Black Stars in 1963, adding that this rapport should be renewed.

Mr. Szijjártó who is on a State visit to Ghana also announced that the Hungarian Football Federation has agreed to extend an invitation to the Ghanaian FA later this year to begin negotiations on how the two Associations can cooperate.

The GFA delegation which included General Secretary Mr. Emmanuel Gyimah, EXCO members Osei Palmer and Madam Lenier Addy led the Hungarian Foreign Minister and his entourage on a familiarization tour to the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.
