Kumasi, Dec 31, GNA - A worker at a kraal at Aputuogya in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District risked his life, took on a four-member armed robbery gang and shot to death one of the robbers who stormed the kraal on December 28. Named only as Tetteh, he and the other workers ignored the order of the robbers, who were all masked and wielding guns, to be quiet or face instant death.

Tetteh entered a room, took a gun and fired at the robbers killing one instantly, while the rest fled into the nearby bush. Inspired by the bravery of Tetteh the residents of the town combed the nearby bush for the rest of the robbers and arrested Nuhu Musah, aged 27, member of the gang and handed him to the police. Musah has been placed in police custody, while the body of the dead robber has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the incident, Inspector Yussif Mohammed Tanko, in-charge of the Ashanti Region Police Public Relations Unit, said the armed robbers stormed the town and headed straight to the kraal belonging to one Mr Joseph Amoah to steal sheep.

The robbers ordered the watchman and others who were there to keep quiet or be shot dead. Tetteh mustered courage, sneaked into his room, took a gun and fired at the robbers killing one instantly and the robbers returned fire but missed him.

He said the robbers then fled into the bush but the next morning the residents of the town combed the bush and succeeded in arresting Musah. Tetteh has been placed in police custody and is helping the police in their investigations.

In a related development, a gang of armed robbers, numbering about eight, on December 27 invaded Sepe Buokrom in the Kumasi metropolis, attacked one Yaa Maggie, a trader, and robbed her of 25 million cedis cash, a set of jewellery and three mobile phones.

A police source said the robbers locked up Yaa Maggie, ransacked her room, and made away with the cash and items.
