John Mensah, the former stalwart defender for the Ghana Black Stars, has found a new calling in his post-football life.

Since hanging up his boots seven years ago, Mensah has turned to the church, dedicating his time and energy to religious service and community outreach.

The ex-captain, who left an indelible mark on Ghana's football legacy, now channels his leadership skills into spreading the gospel.

His transition from the pitch to the pulpit was highlighted during his appearance at the Ghana Football Awards ceremony held on Saturday, June 28, 2024.

"I'm just keeping myself in the church all the time. Since I'm no longer on the field, that's how I'm keeping myself cool," Mensah shared with attendees.

"My church is the Resurrection Power New Generation Church. I'm just worshipping there. But I keep my faith in God Almighty to worship Him well, advise my people, and do evangelism to help others know God very well," he added.

Known in his playing days as the 'Rock of Gibraltar' Mensah's illustrious career with the national team saw him earn 86 caps and score three goals, contributing significantly to Ghana's journey to the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and a runner-up finish in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
