Accra Great Olympics midfielder Gladson Awako disagrees with talks ongoing for Ghanaian players in the domestic league to accept a pay cut amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The Coronavirus pandemic has plunged a lot of clubs across the globe into financial crisis which has led to calls for players to accept a pay cut.
Some players have had their contracts terminated for refusing to accept the pay cut.
However, there has been talks in same regards but Awako disagrees with those calling for Ghanaian players on the domestic front to take a pay cut as their plight is different from players abroad.
“Slashing down salaries will be a collective thing and so, as a group and a team we have to discuss on the matter before they consider pay cut”
“As at now, my club has not inform us about pay cut but to reduce our wages is a difficult thing to stand because we all know our salaries are meager”
“For me, I don’t think it is advisable for clubs to do that. I will not support pay cut in that way” he told Happy FM.
