Former Hearts of Oak striker Maxwell Boakye has denied forging his teammate’s signature to withdraw money from his account.
It was reported that, Boakye withdrew a sun of GHS200 from the account of then young goalkeeper Kingsley Kissi from the Dansoman branch of Bank of Africa.
Boakye, who now ply his trade for Division One league side Gold Stars had three year spell with the rainbow boys between 2013 and 2016.
In a an interview with Bryt FM, he said “I want to clarify issues today, the truth is I didn’t forge the signature of Kingsley Kissi to withdraw money from his account. Kissi was owing me some amount of money, so I asked him to pay. He decided to pay it through the bank so he issued signed cheque for not knowing he didn’t pen his signature at the back of the cheque”
“So when I got to the bank, they asked me to sign the back of the cheque because Kingsley had already signed the front side of the cheque.
"After withdrawing the money, the bank officials later find out that the account was for Kissi so they called him and told him someone has come to withdraw money from his account but he told them that he gave me the cheque just that he was in a rush and could not sign at both ends of the cheque”
“Aftermath, management of Hearts invited the two of us to office and everything was sorted” he concluded.
