Former Ghanaian boxer Joseph Agbeko has expressed disappointment over what he perceives as unfair treatment from some members of the boxing fraternity.

Agbeko, a two-time world champion, said he sometimes feels unappreciated despite his achievements in boxing, including his success on the international stage.

“I don't know if it's because I'm from the Volta Region or whatever, but I actually live there. For some reason, there are a lot of people in there who don't like me,” he said.

The retired boxer also raised concerns about his absence from the collection of champions displayed at the Bukom Boxing Arena, arguing that his achievements deserve recognition alongside Ghana's celebrated boxing legends.

He cited the likes of Azumah Nelson and D.K. Poison, insisting that his record as a two-time world champion places him among the country's outstanding boxers.

“There's no way anybody trying to put pictures of fighters who have achieved for Ghana wouldn't think about Joseph Agbeko,” he added.

Asked whether the perceived omission hurt him, Agbeko admitted that it sometimes affected him emotionally.

“Yes, I would say I feel hurt sometimes,” he said.
