One thing that was profound at Coach Herbert Addo’s funeral was the discord between his wife Mrs. Gifty Acquah Addo and his family.

The disunity and enmity that existed between the two factions was one that everyone who attended the burial and funeral ceremony of the late coach noticed.

Nearly a year after the former Hearts coach died, trouble is still brewing in his family. His immediate family (brothers and five daughters) and wife have still not settled the issues that turned the funeral of the calm looking coach into a chaotic one.

Reports emerged last week that the five daughters of the coach who led Aduana Stars to their first Premier League title have been arrested by the Adenta Police.

The reports indicated that the arrest was occasioned by continued display of disrespect and death threats to the wife of the late coach, Mrs Gifty Acquah Addo by the five daughters and their uncles.

In the heat of the brouhaha, GhanaWeb TV, spoke to Mrs Acquah Addo to know her side of the story.

Mrs Acquah Addo accused the brothers of his late husband of peddling falsehood and pretending to be acting in the interest of her stepdaughters.

She recounted how Herbert Addo’s brothers rejected him on his sickbed and iterated that she bears no personal grudge against her five stepdaughters.

“I initially decided not to talk but I changed my mind because of the falsehood being peddled by his (Herbert Addo) cousin. There’s no iota of truth in whatever she is saying so I just came out to clear the air before people consume the lies he has been saying. When I look at the hardships that the daughters and their uncles made Herbert suffer before he passed away and I hear some of them talk as if they loved him, I get shocked. They are pretending and lying. The neglected the man on his sickbed”.

On her stepdaughters, she stated that “I don’t have personal issues with my stepdaughters. I’m very nice with them. I used to be their go-to person until their father died. During my engagement ceremony with their father, a lot of the arrangements were made by the daughters. I treated them like my own and brought unity between them and their father. I have no personal issues with them”.
