Samuel Osei Kuffour after the defeat to Man Utd in the 1999 UCL final
Former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has revealed that he has never watched the painful UEFA Champions League final loss to Manchester United in 1999.
Kuffour featured in the final, which birthed the iconic picture of him in agony and sobbing uncontrollably.
Speaking with Angel FM, the legendary Ghanaian defender stated that he has vowed never to re-watch the game because it brings back bad memories.
"I've never watched that game. Never, and I don't want to. No, not even the highlights. It's been 25 years now. I will switch. I've told myself that I'm not going to watch it. Never. I don't want to. I don't like watching it because it brings me bad memories," he said.
Bayern led the game by a goal for most of the match and were well on course to win the title until the unthinkable happened. Manchester United scored two goals in two minutes in additional time to win 2-1 and astonishingly snatch the trophy.
The game, which was played at Camp Nou in Catalonia, Spain, is regarded as one of the greatest Champions League finals ever.
