Striker Lloyd Ekow Sam of Ghanaian descent has revealed that he would not turn down a call up to Ghana national team even while concentrating on his club New York Red Bulls in Major Soccer League.

The 30-year-old former Charlton forward has been brilliant with the New York outfit, scoring twice in three games recently.

Coach Avram Grant has travelled to the United States to inspect Ghanaian players in the league and Sam could catch his eyes.

Sam was handed an invitation to the Black Stars six years ago but a hamstring injury prevented him from playing.

“When I look at when the next tournaments are, it's not really something I think is the main priority. Red Bulls to me is the main priority. I’m trying to do something with this club. If Ghana call me up that's great but I don't know exactly when they will play their next tournament,” Sam told BigAppleSoccer.com.

“I'm not saying that I won't play for Ghana. If it comes that's great. I don't know if they're watching our games. I don't know what they're doing.

“I think I could definitely play and add something to the Black Stars,” he said.

“If that happened, I'd consider it. I wouldn't want to miss too many games here though.”

The former Leeds United winger, who was born in England and has been capped once at the country’s U20 level, is still eligible to play for Ghana.
