Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil has expressed his comfort in playing as a false nine for his club.
The versatile forward played a crucial role in LA Galaxy's 3-2 victory over Portland Timbers, contributing a goal and two assists over the weekend.
In a post-match press conference, Paintsil acknowledged the challenges of the role but emphasized his experience in the position.
"It’s not a difficult role. It’s sometimes annoying because sometimes you don’t get a lot of balls. You need to do some runs... making the run also helps to create some spaces," he said.
"This is not my first time playing in that position. I did that when I was in Genk against Club Brugge and also in a couple of other games. I just need to do whatever I need to do in whatever position I’m being used to help my team," he added.
The Ghanaian's impressive performance has solidified LA Galaxy's position at the top of the MLS Western Conference standings.
Paintsil joined LA Galaxy in February 2024 from Belgian side Genk and has scored eight goals and seven assists in 22 appearances.
