Former France international Marcel Desailly says that he has turned down the opportunity to coach the Ghana national team. Desailly, who was born in Ghana, has been linked with the top job of coaching the Black Stars following Kwesi Appiah’s removal from the position.

However, while there is no shortage of applicants for the position, Desailly’s name is not among those which will be considered.

“To be truthful I am not interested in the Black Stars job because I’m very much committed to my businesses and other work that I do outside Ghana,” Desailly told sportscrusader.com in an exclusive interview.

“The Ghana football senior team is attractive now and I am not surprised to have heard that over 20 people applied for the job.

“It’s good for the team because they have been shown to the world how good they are when it comes to previous World Cups, with the exception of the recent one.”

Desailly would not be drawn into which candidate is the best for the job.

“I cannot say that coach A is better than B, the Ghana Football Association should do that. That is their job, if they think one is better than the other and can give us the needed results, why not? Let’s go for him,” he added.
