Versatile Medeama SC forward, Philip Aseweh, over the weekend reiterated his readiness to fight for his position in the team. The forward, who has a wealth of experience at both local and international levels, has found limited opportunities early in the season through his late recovery from an injury he suffered in the previous season.

He joined the team at the latter part of their pre-season preparations, half-fit and has worked assiduously to gain full fitness. Aseweh though worried about his lack of playing time for the Mauves and Yellows, is confident of cementing his position in the team, for the remaining parts of the season. He has found himself limited to only one appearance so far in the season and is yearning for more playing time.

“Injuries are inevitable every footballer’s career and when they come your way, you need strength from within to get back to your best,” said Philip Aseweh. “Watching the game on the stands has not been easy; but I have a lot of lessons from the sidelines and believe when given the opportunity, I will help my team achieve its goals for the season,” he added.

The season has not been so rosy for Medeama SC, as they sit seven points behind league leaders Wa All Stars in the Ghana Premier League after 10 matches, but Aseweh is optimistic about his team’s chances. He believes they have the quality to end the season on a high, despite their average start.

“It’s still early days, we have only played 10 matches so far this season and a lot can change even in the first round of the season,” Aseweh said. “My team has the squad depth and quality to turn the season around,” he added.

Medeama SC are the defending FA cup champions and have been one of the consistent teams in the Ghana Premier League over the past few years. They currently sit in tenth position and are one of Ghana’s hopefuls in the CAF Confederations Cup.
