Francis Dodoo has expressed shock at the number of votes he obtained to retain his position as president of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), at the weekend.
Dodoo pulled 11 votes of the 19 to beat competition from George Lutterodt in the presidency race when both went face-to-face at the Conference Room of the Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
He told GNA Sports that “I am surprised with the kind of work I did and yet pulled 11 votes out of 19 because I was actually projecting for 13 but I am happy for the trust entrusted in me.
“I have learnt a lot of lessons prior to the election so I will change some things which could not help. I am willing to work with my opponent but it depends on the nature of the idea on board”.
Outlining some of his vision for the association, he said that grassroots programme will enjoy more attention and focus as his outfit journey for better days for the sport.
Dodoo hinted he will be working with a professional body to ensure that Physical Education is well supervised in the basic and second cycle schools.
The GAA seek to organize competitions nationwide, beginning next year.
