Ghana coach Otto Addo has dismissed allegations of selection influence in the Black Stars, asserting that he makes his own decisions.

Speaking on Starr Chat, Addo disclosed that he is not influenced by political or football administrators when it comes to player selection.

"I make my own decisions. Whatever I do here in the national team, sometimes we discuss things with our technical staff, but on the decisions we make for players and on the field, in the end, I have the last word," Addo said. "If it wouldn't be like that, I would never come here."

Addo also praised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for not interfering in his decision-making process for the Black Stars team.

"I'll thank the GFA; they've never interfered in my selection. They left me alone in my decision, and I think that's the best way it can work," he said. "If there are too many interferences in this and that, it's not only what happens in Ghana, it's normal sometimes like in Europe."

Otto Addo replaced Chris Hughton in March following the Black Stars' poor showing at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

The former Ghana international signed a 34-month contract with an option for a further 24 months.

He recently led the Black Stars to end their winless run this year after recording back-to-back wins during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana defeated Mali 2-1 in Bamako before returning to Kumasi to secure a 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic.
