Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has revealed that he has taken the constructive criticism from the club’s passionate fanbase to heart, despite facing mounting pressure after a rocky start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians have struggled in their opening matches, losing their first two games and dropping six crucial points.

This disappointing run has led to growing frustration among supporters, with some even calling for the coach’s dismissal.

However, Coach Ouattara, known for his open-minded approach, has acknowledged that he listens to the fans and values their input.

In an interview with Hearts TV, he expressed that while some feedback has been harsh, he has accepted the positive criticism and is determined to turn things around.

“The fans are like the blood of the club. Coaches may come and go, players too, but the fans are always there,” Coach Ouattara stated while adding, “We are disappointed with our performance in the last two matches, and we call on the fans to continue supporting the team because we need them. We understand their frustration. I listen to the criticism, the good ones I’ve taken but some of it, especially the insults, are not helpful. We need them to stand by us.”

As the team prepares for their Week 3 encounter against Bechem United, Coach Ouattara is rallying the fans to keep faith in the team, insisting their support is crucial in bouncing back from the early setbacks.

The upcoming match between Hearts of Oak and Bechem United is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, with kickoff at 6 PM at the Legon Sports Stadium.

As the Phobians look to claim their first victory of the season, all eyes will be on whether Ouattara can steer the team back on course with the backing of their loyal supporters.
