Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama has denied ever taking bribe in their 0-1 loss to Barrack Young Controllers in the Caf Champions League.

The shot-stopper has come under intense pressure and been accused of receiving $3,000 from their Liberian opponents to throw the game.

“I have not taken any bribe from any official of the Liberian team, I made some decent saves and I am shocked nobody is saying and applauding me for all those saves I made in the game, why should this happen when we all know the problems with Kotoko are even beyond we the playing body,” the Burkinabe told Allsports.

“I have served Kotoko for more than five years, I had so many offers after the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations when I was with my national team, but because of the love and the respect I have for the Kotoko team and the fans I decided to extend my contract with the club, so if there are issues we have to settle them rather than sit somewhere and blame me for nothing, why will they accuse me of taking bribe that I don’t know anything about?”

A very livid Soulama added: “$3,000 is not a big amount for me so why will I do such a thing to Kotoko, we played very well till 85th minutes, I will admit I could have done well with the goal I conceded but that should not be a yardstick for people to stand on and accuse me falsely, top goalkeepers make mistakes and I admit I made a mistake in the goal we conceded.”

“Is sad we have been booted out of the Champions League in the preliminary round, but we are hoping we will continue our dominance in the Ghana league so that we can bounce back in grand style next season in Africa,” the 34-year-old opined.
