I was forced to play through pain at Al Hilal - Abednego Tetteh reveals

Several Ghanaian footballers go through a lot of ordeals in pursuing their careers abroad and the story is not different from Hearts of Oak striker Abednego Tetteh revealed how he was forced to play through pain in Sudan.

Tetteh after hitting 11 goals in the Ghana Premier League to emerge the top scorer for Bechem United in 2016 was poached to Sudan where he was carried shoulder-high in his first season.

Despite his wonderful outing in Sudan, Tetteh’s contract was terminated to the shock of many who were following his performance in Sudan.

Following his return to the Ghana Premier League to sign for giants Accra Hearts of Oak, Tetteh has revealed how he struggled in Sudan as he was forced to play through pain, leading to the termination of his contract.

“I was in top form for Al Hilal but unfortunately I got injured in a league game before our Champions League game with Port Luis of Mauritius,’ he told footballmadeinghana.com.

“I was forced to play for my side in the Champions League game and I scored twice despite being injured,” he narrated.

“I was given the opportunity to travel to Ghana to use some traditional treatment but I was forced to return to Sudan three days after arriving in Ghana to play against our bitterest rivals Al Merreikh.

“Despite the injury, I accepted to play but we lost 2-1 to Al Merreikh and I scored the only goal for Al Hilal. My contract was terminated without my notice after the game,” he noted.

Tetteh revealed that he was unfairly treated by the Crescents despite his commitment for the club but the leadership of the club felt he was not ready to help the club.

Tetteh is currently with Hearts of Oak and is set to lead their attack when the season resumes from the COVID-19 break.
