The newly appointed head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, David Duncan, says he joined the club because he was motivated by the new challenge. He echoed on the daunting task ahead of him as the reason behind his joining of the troubled champions.
After his introduction to the playing staff by the veteran Kofi Nti, the former Ashgold and Hearts of Oak trainer briefed media and the players on why he joined the red devils.
”I was looking for a new challenge. After coaching clubs like Hearts of Oak and Ashgold, the obvious choice was always going to be Kotoko. The logical thing was to pick a club in the stature of these clubs, not below the standards of my former clubs”, he explained.
He further briefed the media on his surprise after receiving the offer. “I thank the Almighty God for giving me the offer. I don’t know how possible it would have been for me to land the job. The timing of the contract is right. Even though I was not expecting it, everything came at the right time. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Asante Kingdom as a whole”, he concluded.
David Duncan’s first assignment is to launch Kotoko’s continental campaign with a convincing performance in Algeria, before rescuing their ailing domestic league campaign on Sunday.
