Michael Darko, Angel FM’s journalist who was sacked from the Black Stars camp for a report he made to Ghana has given his side of what transpired in the events leading to his sack.
According to Michael, who is popularly known as Summer, he went to the team’s camp to access internet at the team’s hotel and to sort out his accreditation issues with the FA’s spokesman, Sannie Daara, and was told the team was training on a small field behind the hotel so in his attempt to reach Saanie on the field, he met the team training and events unfolded from there.
“I went to the team’s hotel to access internet and sort out my accreditation issues with FA’s spokesperson, Saanie Daara. I got to the hotel while the team was training on a field behind the team’s hotel. Saanie asked me to leave the ground because Coach Grant will be upset if he sees me there, so I left.
Later, a national security personnel called Botchway confronted me as to why I had made a report to Ghana that Asamoah Gyan had trained. He was also upset that I had posted a picture of the team training and that his boss called him from Accra to question him as to why he allowed me to report on a training session which was supposed to be behind close doors,” Summer told happy FM.
He continued, “Mr. Botchway told me (in the presence of Joe Debrah and a few players) that I wanted to make him lose his job and therefore I should leave the hotel or else he will manhandle me and I left.
Several contradictory reports came up when this issue arose and he had to come up to give his side of the story. We are trying to get the FA’s side of the issue.
