Former Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams has opened up about his decision to quit the club saying the arrival of Dr. Kwame Kyei as the Executive Chairman of the club didn’t bode well for him.

The defender was signed by the Porcupines in 2015 for three years under the leadership of Opoku Nti as the Executive Chairman of the club. Ahmed who was one of the standout defenders from 2015-2018 left the Kumasi based club following the expiration of his three-year contract.

At the time, the Kotoko hierarchy accused him of quoting an exorbitant fee before signing a new contract.

Two years after leaving Kotoko, the Berekum Chelsea defender told Angel FM that Lawyer Yaw Boafo who was the club’s legal advisor told him that he can’t ask for a salary increment because he was not Messi after asking the club to increase his GH¢1000 monthly salary.

“I never quoted an amount when I met Dr. Kwame Kyie’s management about my contract extension. All I wanted was an increment in my monthly salary which was GH¢1000 in my contract extension.”

“I was told by Lawyer Yaw Boafo that I’m not Lionel Messi to be asking for Salary Increment, my proposal was turned down but the proposal was not astronomical, “ he added.

Ahmed was part of the Black Stars B team that won the 2017 WAFU Championship in Cape Coast.
