Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has made an interesting revelation of how he used to wash jerseys and shoes of senior players in the national team.

Appiah was speaking on Joy Sports when he opened up on lessons of being humble and how far it has brought him in football.

The first captain to qualify Ghana to the World Cup also revealed, he still has respect for all the players he met in the Black Stars, and the role they played in shaping his leadership qualities.

"Even the Bible said before you will be great, you have to serve and for some of us we served and we are still serving. We see some of the senior players and we bow," says the ex Juventus midfielder.

"I was the one who used to wash their jerseys and shoes," he added.

Stephen Appiah played 67 times for the Black Stars between 1995 to 2010, leading Ghana to two World Cup before hanging his boots.
