Former Black Satellites forward, Clifford Aboagye says he would be disappointed if he fails to earn a Black Stars call up and make a debut before he retires from football.

The former Inter Allies attacker captained the Ghana under-20 side at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup where he led the team to secure a 3rd place spot after missing out on the final to France, winners of the tournament.

Clifford Aboagye won the Bronze Ball of the tournament falling behind to Paul Pogba and Nicolás López who won the Golden and Silver Ball respectively.

Since bouncing onto the scene, the skillful attacker has never earned a call-up into the Senior National team although a few of his teammates at Black Satellites have enjoyed a place in the team.

Aboagye says it has always been his dream to play for the Black Stars and given the opportunity he won’t disappoint.

“It will be a big disappointment for me if I don’t get to play in the Black Stars because it has been a dream of mine since childhood. I have been able to play U20 and won the Bronze Ball in the World Cup. Should I get the opportunity to play for the Black Stars I would not let Ghanaians down,” Aboagye said.

The 24-year-old also declined the assertion that his absence from Europe is the reason he is not getting a look in at the Black Stars.

He added, “most of the guys I went to the tournament with have been called up to the Black Stars. I don't think it has anything to do with where I play in the league, because while I was in Atlas, I was very active until my injury and even after my injury I came back to top form.”
