Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has identified next season the most important in his career as he looks to cement his stardom status in China.
The 29-year-old joined Shanghai SIPG from Al Ain in June in a move that was widely publicized worldwide and received with a lot of funfair especially from the fans of his new club.
The reaction towards the move of Asamoah Gyan to China further established the Ghanaian striker as one of the most popular players in the world of football.
His performance on the field of play after hitting the ground running with a goal on his debut just days after his arrival in China was however hampered by injuries.
The former Sunderland ace now eager to prove himself once again with his new club with the benefit of undergoing a full pre-season with his new club.
“Next season is one of the important seasons in my career. I know what is at stake,” he said in an interview.
“I went, I proved myself but injury slowed me down a bit but the people were happy with my performance.
“I got there right from holidays when I wasn’t even fit but I started performing.
“So I will count myself as even lucky and I think the goal’s return from the number of games I was able to play was quite good too.”
