Asamoah Gyan’s father says he will persuade his son to reverse his decision to staying away from penalties with the national team.

The Black Stars captain announced his decision back in November 2012 as a pledge to his later mother.

Gyan was pilloried when he missed a penalty in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals defeat to Zambia.

Some disgruntled fans marched to his parent’s residence to register their displeasure and that forced him quit international football temporarily.

His last-minute penalty miss against Uruguay which denied Ghana a historic 2010 FIFA World Cup semi-final berth, remains etched on the minds of Ghanaian.

Four years on, Gyan’s father wants to intervene and talk his son out of retirement.

“I will talk to Asamoah Gyan to reconsider his decision not to take penalty kick for the Black Stars because I will be very glad to see my son lift the AFCON 2017,” Mensah Gyan told Happy FM Anopa Bosuo Sports on Friday morning.
