Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda hopes to extend his contract with Ashantigold in time to participate in the CAF Champions League next year.
Dauda, 30, is a free agent following the expiration of his current deal in July this year.
The former Orlando Pirates shot-stopper has consistently claimed he will renew his deal with the miners even though nothing substantive has come out of it.
Ashantigold are desperate to tie new deals for their experienced players ahead of their involvement in the CAF Champions League next season.
And Black Stars glovesman Fatau Dauda hopes to sign the dotted lines in time to make the Africa squad.
‘I will sign a new deal for them. Don’t forget Ashantigold will play in Africa and so that’s a good platform for any player to sell himself,’ he said
‘This club has done so much for me that I can’t turn my back on them. Definitely I will sign a new contract.
‘We are yet to meet to discuss the final terms but hopefully it will be soon so I can play in Africa’.
Dauda joined the miners from one revered Ghanaian side Okwahu United nine years ago.
He impressed at the club, prompting a call-up and regular game-time for the Black Stars, who he represented at both the 2008 and 2013 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghanaian then South African side joined Orlando Pirates in July 2013 but his career was stalled in Mayfair, leading to his decision to return his native country.
