Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Winful Cobbinah says he will join the player exodus when his current contract runs out with the Accra-based club and will not sign for any local-based team.
Cobbinah has one year left on his contract with the Phobians, and is weighing up his options of moving abroad at the end of the 2018 season.
In an interview with footballmadeinGhana.com, he said, “Prior to the end of last season, I heard so many stories about some clubs chasing after my signature, but I knew that it wasn’t going to happen.
“It will be difficult to play for another local side even if I don’t get a foreign deal in the remaining one year left on my contract with Hearts of Oak, he added.
The Hearts of Oak talisman also revealed that there are a host of clubs chasing him for his signature but will leave the negotiations to his club and the interested parties.
Meanwhile, public relations officer for Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo says he is optimistic Winful Cobbinah will extend his contract as the club have already started negotiations with the player.
Speaking on Asempa FM sports morning show, he said, “Cobbinah has a one-year contract with the club. I have met him personally and told him that we have to renew his contract; same with Patrick Razak.”
He also stated that even though some players of Hearts of Oak have gone for floating status, the club is not giving up on those players as long as the transfer window is opened, and the club is still negotiating with the players, but is hopeful some of the players will return.
Kwame Kizito, Vicent Atinga and Leonard Tawiah are the Hearts of Oak players who have gone for floating status from the Ghana Football Association.
