Ghanaian boxer, Michael Okine popularly known as Ayitey Powers says he will retire from boxing if he fails to knockout his opponent, Gbese Bruno, also known as Enoch Quaye, in their cruiserweight bout on April 27 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Ayitey Powers’ boxing career fell into the ditch after he failed to oust his longest rival, Braimah Kamoko, nicknamed Bukom Banku on two occasions in their highly publicized bouts.

However, Powers rose from that setback to beat Eric Kwardey at the Liberty Park in Achimota, Accra in 2017.

Declaring his intentions at the Press Conference held on Tuesday at The Gym, the former Australian based boxer said that Gbese Bruno has been inspired by his fans to engage in a feast of punches with him but Ayittey is of the opinion that his opponent will be no match for him.

Powers is so sure of victory to the extent that he has declared his intentions to quit boxing if he fails to knockout Bruno in the ring.

"There are a lot of fans behind Bruno advising him to take me on, but my advice to him is that the ring is really hot. He can run from here to Nungua and beyond but between round 1 to 5 I would stop him. See if I fail to beat you by way of knockout then I will quit boxing,” He emphatically said.

He also warned Bruno to be cautious of his actions because his fans would give him a second beating when he descends from the ring if he disappoints them.

According to the CEO of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye, boxing fanatics within Bukom and its environs have called for this bout to be staged after Ayitey made mockery of Bukom Banku when he lost to Bastie Samir in September 2017.

On the same fight night, sensational boxer, George Ashie, would make a return to the ring to face a tough South African opponent, Michael Mokoena for the WBO Africa Lightweight title, while Raymond Commey faces Isaac Sackey for the WBO Africa Jr. Featherweight title.
