Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is up-beat about his chances of snatching the Foreign Footballer of the Year Award at this 3rd edition of the Sports Fans Award.
The awards which are billed to be staged at the plush Best Western Premier hotel in Accra on the 26th of December will see the Udinese’s midfielder enforcer, Badu locking horns with Swansea City’s Andre Ayew and Torino’s Afriyie Acquah for the award.
Speaking from his base in Italy to Happy FM, Badu expressed his elation at his nomination and believes he’s done enough to merit the award although he reckons all the other contenders are also strong candidates for the award.
“I’m excited to have made the list. I think I have done enough during the year under review and I deserve to win this award. I did very well in the season half of last season for my club and I’m replicating that form this season by scoring three goals so far in the Italian Serie A.” Badu told Happy FM.
Badu was, however, quick to acknowledge that his other two competitors have performed very well for their respective clubs and could also stand the chance of winning.
“Even though I feel that I stand tall to win this award, my other colleagues have also done very well for their respective clubs and could also win it deservedly.” Badu acknowledged meekly to Happy FM.
Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan won this award last year following his sterling performance for his former club, Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
