Sports Minister-designate Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has promised all sporting disciplines in the country that he is going into the office of the sports ministry as a sports minister and not a ‘football minister.‘

The sports ministry has over the years being criticised for ignoring other sports federations in the country.

And Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, a former journalist and boxing promoter, who told the parliamentary vetting committee on Monday reiterated his promised to give equal attention to all the sports sectors in the country.

“I can assure Ghanaians that all sporting disciplines will receive equal attention under my tenure in other to contribute to their growth and winning of more international medals and competitions,” the former GBC sports broadcaster told Asempa FM.

Hon. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye is coming into the sector as a former amateur boxer and footballer, former broadcast journalist and has served in several sports administrative roles including the president for the Ghana Weightlifting Federation.

He will replace Dr. Mustapha Ahmed who served at the Ministry for eight months.
