Head coach for the Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah has shared that he will not coach the team forever while citing that there should be someone capable enough to handle the team when he leaves his post.
According to the gaffer who is currently under fire, there are a lot of good coaches in the country but someone must be prepared for the top-most job in case the need arises.
Speaking to journalist after the Black Stars' first training session in Accra yesterday, Coach Appiah shared, “Me one day I won't coach the national team again but we should all sit back and ask ourselves who will replace some of us if we should stop coaching or leave this team”.
He added, “Who have we prepared to step in when some of us leave the scene we should have other capable options who we can consider due to their experience with the national team”.
“It should not just be about just a handful of people we can fall one when we need a coach”.
Coach Kwesi Appiah further affirmed his belief in assistant coach CK Akonnor and cited that he has no doubt there are other coaches in the country who can handle the Ghana male senior national team.
“I believe C.K is not a new person in the football arena, he has coached all the top clubs in the country."
“I don't believe in the idea that we have very few coaches handling the national teams, I believe other people too should be given the opportunity”, he added.
