Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams has pledged his full support for the Black Stars technical team, insisting that personal disagreements over selection decisions will not affect his commitment to the national team’s progress.

Speaking on the back of ongoing discussions surrounding squad selections under head coach Carlos Queiroz on TV3, Adams stressed that his role is to create a stable environment for the coaches to work, not to interfere with their technical decisions.

He explained that even when he does not fully agree with certain choices, his priority remains ensuring unity and national backing for the team.

“I am a minister responsible to create an environment for the Technical Team to be able to function very well and that is what they should check me on,” he said.

Adams added that once the coach has made his decisions, it is his duty to rally the country behind them rather than undermine the process.

“My duty now is to rally the country to support that decision,” he stated.

Using a local expression to emphasise his point, the minister made it clear that he will not take actions that could disrupt the team’s progress.

“Not because I’d wish that something should have been done, because that was not done, I should begin to pour sand into their gari or make the way slippery for them so they will slip and fall,” he added.

His comments come amid increased public debate over Black Stars squad selections ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations, with various omissions and inclusions sparking reactions from fans and pundits.
