The host, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), suffered their second consecutive defeat at the on-going Sixth-mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA), Games Men’s football category, after they bowed 0-1 to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), at the Paa Joe Stadium, Kumasi.
Ian Quartey scored two minutes into injury time to hand his side a vital victory as the KNUST defence lost focus in the dying minutes of the game.
UPSA, who lost in their first match, plays University of Ghana (UG), in their next fixture. UG were defeated 1-2 by the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), who are leading the log on six points having chalked a 1-0 victory over KNUST in the opening match.
In the Women’s category, the KNUST made amends with a 4-2 victory over UG, while University of Cape Coast (UCC) continued with their winning spree, recording a 10-0 victory over UPSA.
