If you always have to show muscle then you are not smart - Kankam Boadu berates Black Stars bodyguard

Bright Kankam Boadu, the head of sports at Kumasi-based Pure FM, has called out the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku for his failure to rein in the bodyguard of the Black Stars, who has become notorious for harassing and physically abusing people who try to get close to the players.

Kankam Boadu believes that the presence of the bodyguard, identified as Aziz, around the national team, is not a decision by the Ghana Football Association but by Kurt Okraku, who has a relationship with the well-built man.

While he concedes that Kurt Okraku is gentle and tolerant of opposing views, his failure to call Aziz to order is a significant blot on his reputation.

Kankam Boadu noted on Pure FM that the lack of tact and discernment by Aziz in the exercise of his duties as a security official for the Black Stars is indicative of his daftness.

"If you are a human being and all you have to show is muscle, then you are not sensible. This guy is not smart. It is sad that the people he is working for can't rein him in. The Kurt Okraku I know is very tolerant and gentle.

"Because the bodyguard lacks sense, he always has to put on a show. That is why I'm disappointed in Michael Osekere and Kurt Okraku. The GFA as an entity knows nothing about him. He is Kurt’s boy.

"He has been doing this for a while now. He did a similar thing in the US, and the police were called on him. It took Kwabena Yeboah and some of us to plead with them. He is daft. Any sensible person would have learned his lesson by now," he said.

Kankam Boadu's assessment of Aziz's work is based on a viral video of the man trying to harass some journalists and football fans who sought opportunities to take photos with Black Stars coach Otto Addo and some of the players during their four-day training in Accra.

The Black Stars will take on Mali today, June 6, 2024, in their third match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana is currently fifth in Group I with three points from two matches.
