Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah said he was in total shock when he found out that the original number of supporters that were airlifted from Ghana to Brazil to support the Senior National team, the Black Stars, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup had inflated upon checking the row.
Responding to questions being posed to him by the chairman of the Presidential Commission, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, on Wednesday August 20, Mr Afriyie Ankrah said, "Officially 612 supporters were flown to Brazil. By the time we took the row at the camp, we realized the number had increased to 696."
However, the now Minister of State at the Presidency disclosed that the welfare committee still went ahead to cater for the ‘intruders.'
“We took care of all of them.”
The Presidential Commission was set up to investigate issues surrounding the poor performance of the Black Stars at the Brazil 2014 FIFA world cup.
