Over one hundred amateur golfers would assemble at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra, to vie for this year’s Achimota Golf Independence Day Championship trophy on Wednesday, March 6.
Mr Gilbert Morgan, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Friday, said the one-day 18-hole stableford competition which is being played as part of activities marking the 45th anniversary celebration of Ghana’s Independence, is being sponsored by the Club.
He announced that the Club has put very attractive prizes at stake and urged members who had not registered as yet to do so to make the celebration a colourful one.
Meanwhile, Netball Association of Ghana will also host the Independence Day netball competition in Accra on Saturday, March 9.
Mr Emmanuel Nikoi, Chairman of the Netball Association of Ghana who announced this on Thursday, said about 12 netball teams selected from the Greater Accra, Western, Eastern, Ashanti, Volta and Brong Ahafo Regions are expected to compete in the one-day event.
He named some of the teams as Heritage Ladies, Golden Hands, Diamond Hands, and Redeemers Ladies, all from the Greater Accra Region.
