A Ghanaian health practitioner, Samed Brimah and his Australian wife, Catarina Sestili have embarked on a noble mission to share their vast knowledge in the field of health science by opening up a fitness institute in Ghana.

The official launch of the Institute will happen this Friday, September 27 at the plush Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel in Accra.

It is expected that dignitaries from all walks of life, but notably from the Ghana Education Service, the National Sports Authority, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the University of Ghana among others will come and grace the occasion.

According to Samed and his wife Caterina, the Institute of Fitness Ghana will be the largest fitness training organisation in West Africa, with the main campus located in Accra, Ghana.

The Institute is expected to offer an internationally accredited Certificate in Personal Training and will also offer students the choice to study on campus or online or a blended delivery mode. Also expected to be available will be mentoring packages and a comprehensive career assistance program, which includes access to Career Mentors careers website, plus invitations to FIRE (Fitness Industry Recruitment Expos) Nights.

A course at the Institute will take an average time of six months to complete. Individuals who take up a course and successfully see it through will have career opportunities in areas such as; Personal Trainer, Gym Manager, outdoor Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach and Cruise ship / Health & Leisure Trainer.

Speaking to the media ahead of the launch, Samed Brimah who is CEO of the Institute said the motivation to set up the institute came after he identified a gap in the Ghanaian fitness industry sector for quality formal health and fitness vocational training and the expansion of employment opportunities within the fitness industry.

“Two years ago while in Ghana we want for a fitness walk with Lexis Bill of Joy FM and while talking to the gym owners some of whom came for the walk they mentioned the lack of vocational trainer and so I thought that with my experience and knowledge I could come back home and educate my own people.

This will also create employment opportunities for the youth in the fitness and health industry.”

On her path, Caterina Sesteli, a Director at the Institute said “we can assure you that there will be high quality lectures with the option of students talking the NCCA exams which will give them global recognition where ever they go, especially in the US and the UK”.

Caterina Sesteli also mentioned that she and her husband have been impressed with the kind of reception they have received from key stakeholders in the industry and are thus looking forward to a successful launch on Friday.
