Inter-departmental soccer league kicks off in K'dua

Accra, April 11, GNA - The 2005 Inter-departmental soccer league in the Koforidua Municipality kick starts on April 19 with eight departmental clubs participating in the fiesta.

The participating teams are the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Telecom, Koforidua Steel Works, GPRTU-Taxi rank, Electricity Corporation and the Department of Town and Country Planning.


Mr Charles Aryeh, the Eastern Regional Sports Development Officer in a press release copied to the GNA Sports in Accra, said a giant trophy, as well as other attractive prizes have been donated by Liberty Sports Limited, the sole sponsor of the competition to the winners of the competition.


He said all the matches are to be played at the Koforidua Police Depot between Tuesday and Thursdays with Mondays and Fridays reserved for any eventual rained-off matches.

The first week fixtures has Immigration clashing with Telecom on April 19, Town Planning will face Fire Service on April 20, Steel Workers encounter Electricity Corporation on April 21 while Ghana Police lock horns with GPRTU on April 26.


Mr Aryeh called on all workers as well as the sports loving public to come in their numbers to cheer and make the competition a success and to help in the need to build upon the co-operation of workers in the Municipality.
