International Open Chess Championship

Accra, Feb 21. GNA – The Ghana Chess Association (GCA) would on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday February 24, organize an International Open Chess Championship, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The two day championship, would be under the sponsorship of DiscoveryTel Ghana Limited, a broadband 4G wimax internet and network solutions provider, with both local and international participants.

Group Captain George Arko-Dadzie President of the GCA expressed appreciation to the company for supporting the organization of the event with the needed funding which will help in the promotion of Chess in the country.

He noted that the package is not the first from the company, as there have been previous donations, adding that, he was hopeful that the partnership established between the two institutions will grow from strength to strength. Group Captain Arko-Dadzie further stated that it was gratifying to see some corporate bodies meet up with their corporate social responsibilities in the form of assistance for sports and urged other corporate bodies to emulate this example.

The championship will start at 0900 hours each day.
