The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Joseph Yaminn has urged Corporate Ghana to invest in Sports in Ghana. According to him, "Government has key and keen strategic plans towards the revival of sports in Ghana".
This, Hon. Yaminn noted, "will be done in accordance with corporate Ghana since government alone can note bring about the due and expectant change to sports". The Deputy Sports Minister revealed, that, "under the sports bill which is being restructured, businesses and institutions which will invest in sports will enjoy series of tax and import rebates".
He was speaking at first ever 'Sekyere Unity Cup' soccer tournament at the Afram Plains capital of Drobonso.
The initiative by the Constituency's Member of Parliament, District Chief Executive and the Chiefs was aimed at fostering unity in the area while discovering and developing emerging talents.
The 'Sekyere Unity Cup' which brought together all the six (6) Sekyere Districts in the region took place at the Afram Plains District capital of Drobonso.
The first ever tournament was under the consultancy of of Kumasi based Sports consortium, Authentic Sports, headed by former Kotoko PRO and Marketing Manager, Listowell Yesu Bukarson.
The Participating Districts included Sekyere Afram Plains(Drobonso), Sekyere South (Agona), Sekyere East (Effiduase), Sekyere Kumawu, Sekyere Central (Nsuta) and Sekyere West (Asante Mampong).
The occasion was graced by high profile dignitaries including Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Yaw Adusei Assistant Coach of the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu, Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Alex Adomako Mensah, District Chief Executive Officer, Hon Fuseni Donkor and District Chief Executives from all the other participating Districts.
The gala was sponsored by, Star Assurance, MBC-Obuasi and Latex Foam.
