Ghanaian boxer Briamah Kamoko, better known as Bukom Banku has attributed Isaac Dogboe’s defeats to Mexican boxer Emmanuel Navarette to lack of fitness.
Back-to-back defeats to Naverette has sent Dogboe down the pecking order of the WBO rankings with the 24-year-old now having to fight his way up into a world title contention.
Dogboe, since the battering has made significant changes to his team, replacing Paul Dogboe with legendary Freddie Roach as trainer.
But Banku asserts that Dogboe can only win back his title if commits himself to long hours of training.
According to Banku, Naverette overpowered Dogboe because he was fitter and sharper than him.
“Dogboe is a good boxer. But my advice to him is he must train more. If he trains more, he will beat the guy. If he trains 100 he should make it 150 and he can beat the guy. They beat Isaac Dogboe because of fitness. My sincere opinion is that if he trains more, he can beat the guy. He is not my friend though we’ve met a few times”.
The former WBO Super Bantamweight champion was due to fight Carl Frampton on November 30 but the bout was called after he picked up an injury in training.
He is currently undergoing treatment and expected to make a return next year.
Bukom Banku is hopeful of making a successful defence of his WBU cruiserweight title against a yet-to-be announced opponent on November 25.
