Reigning WBO world super bantamweight champion, Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe is set to climax what can be described as a successful 2018 with a fight on December 8. The 23-year-old boxer hopes to make another successful defence of his title when he storms the Maddison Square Gardens in New York on December 8 to take on a yet-to-be-announced boxer.

The fight which is expected to be on the Vasyl Lomachenko-Jose Pedraza December 8 card would be the Ghanaian's return for the first time in four months since destroying Japan’s Hidenori Otake in the first round on August 25 in Glandale, Arizona.

Dogboe has had an excellent year, knocking out Cesar Juarez in January 2018 to win the WBO interim super bantamweight title at the Bukom Boxing Arena before going on to snatch the world title with an emphatic eleventh round victory over Jessie Magdaleno in April in Philadephia.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, Dogboe who appeared tightlipped on his opponent on the said date, said that he is fully prepared for the bout and assured his fans and Ghanaians of another remarkable victory.

“December 8 is going to be a great day. A day of two warriors coming into the ring to show off their strength, hard work and everything. Someone wants a title and another person wants to make history to unify the title. So it’s going to be a great day of fighting”, He added; “The Big Apple, once you get there then you know that you have made it. But we don’t see it as the last stop, we see it as the beginning. Mike (referring to his match-maker) throw me to the wolves and I will come leading the pack, you throw me to the big apple and I will come with many apples in the basket. So this is the first of many of apples I will be putting in my basket, that’s my next opponent, Dogboe.

However, a report by the state-owned Graphic newspaper on Thursday, October 11 revealed that Mexican fighter Emmanuel Naverrete will be Dogboe’s opposition on 8th December.

Per the reports Dogboe’s camp have struck an agreement with Naverrete’s team for a bout that will be Dogboe’s first ever match in New York and at the historic Maddison Square Gardens Neverette has an outstanding record of 25-1, 22 KOs and has won his last eight bouts through knockouts.

Dogboe on the other hand boast of an undefeated record of 20-0, 14 KO and is on a five-winning knockout streak which includes wins over Julian Evaristo Aristule, Javier Nicolas Chacon and Hidenori Otake.
